In 1890, polylactic acid (PLA) was discovered, a thermoplastic polymer of natural origin, biodegradable, biocompatible and of renewable origin, obtained by polymerizing lactic acid obtained from corn, other starches or other sources of sugar (beet, etc). Lactic acid in turn is obtained from bacterial fermentation of polysaccharides or by chemical synthesis. PLA has helped drive the flexible packaging industry towards more sustainable solutions and offers consumers the ability to choose natural products that reduce greenhouse gases, CO2 emissions and post-consumer waste.

PLA films can replace conventional plastics such as polypropylene, polyester and polyethylene offering two environmental advantages: Bio-based origin and TÜV Austria certified for compostability according to EN13432.

The range of PLA products that we can offer you includes transparent heat-sealable films from 20 to 75 microns, white, metallized, with Alox and lastly heat-shrinkable that cover a wide range of applications for the flexible packaging market both in food and in other sectors such as of labels (sleeve).
